The Breath taking “Audi Trimaran”

The Audi Trimaran was a student project by designer Stefanie Behringer (Pforzheim Technical College, Germany) for the Audi concept design studio in Munich. There are no plans to put the Trimaran into series production, but it is nonetheless an eye-catching project.

Audi Sport launches Facebook page

- VIP tickets for the 24 Hours of Le Mans to be won

Audi Sport is now present on the social network “Facebook” website just in time for the 24 hour race at Le Mans on June 11/12. The new virtual meeting place attracted more than 1,000 motorsport fans within a few hours.

Audi wishes to give fans the possibility of informing themselves about the brand’s comprehensive motorsport program and to exchange views and opinions via its own Facebook profile. As an additional platform alongside the website www.audi.com/motorsport, the official iPhone App “Audi Sport” and the digital “Audi Express” for the iPad, the Facebook profile specifically provides brief information, a limited quantity of previously unpublished photos among the many images and an insight into the company’s motorsport history which stretches back more than 30 years. Reports will be posted directly from the racetracks during all the brand’s factory supported events. Audi Sport will also start its own Twitter channel shortly. Read more

Audi is launching the next generation of the A6 Avant, the most successful business-class station wagon in Europe. The new model presents the brand’s full array of progressive technological expertise. Its lightweight body, large portions of which are made of aluminum, sets new standards, as does the wide selection of assistance and multimedia systems. The keyword for the latter is Audi connect. The new Audi A6 Avant is available with a choice of six engines: two gasoline engines and four diesel units. Fuel consumption has been reduced by as much as 18 percent compared with the previous model. Topping the engine lineup is the new 3.0 TDI with twin-turbo technology and 230 kW (313 hp). Audi also offers numerous high-end options for the drivetrain and the chassis. The luggage compartment has a capacity of up to 1,680 liters (59.33 cu ft) and offers a number of elegant features, including a power rear hatch that opens in response to a sensor signal.

Audi wins International Engine of the Year Award 2011 for 2.5-liter TFSI

A jury of 76 motoring journalists from around the world has voted the Audi 2.5-liter TFSI as the “International Engine of the Year 2011” in the 2-liter to 2.5-liter category. This engine therefore retains the award that it won last year

The 2.5-liter unit fitted to the Audi RS 3 Sportback and TT RS Coupé and Roadster features both turbocharging and FSI direct gasoline injection technology, two of Audi’s core technologies. With a displacement of 2,480 cubic centimeters, this engine produces 250 kW (340 hp) between 5,400 and 6,500 rpm and peak torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) from 1,600 to 5,300 rpm. Read more
